Ranikhet is a beautiful hill
station located at altitude of 1870 Mtrs ( 6139 Feet) above sea
level in Almora district in Uttarakhand, India. Ranikhet is a
cantonment area and Kumaon Regiment & Naga Regiment of Indian
Army are located here.
King Sudhardev has gifted this place to his wife Rani Padmavati
,Though no palace exists in Ranikhet.
Ranikhet is spread across two ridges, first ridge is called
Ranikhet ridge and second is called Chaubattia ridge, Mall road
of Ranikhet is located in Chaoubattia ridge though main market
is located .

Sight Seeing Places in Ranikhet
Jhula Devi Temple: Jhula Devi temple is located on apple garden road and
known for lots of hanging bells, Jhula devi temple is dedicated to goddess Durga.
Chaubatia Orchard: One can see an Apple garden with botanical garden
here, several exotic flowers , fruits can be seen here , Governement fruit
research institute have 200 varieties of fruits, one has to show their identity
card at entrance gate .
Bhalu Dam: This man made dame is located 3 kms away from Chaubatia, Bhalu
dam is a populor picnic spot.
Golf Course: Army golf course is located on Almora road and 6 kms from
Ranikhet town, It is a nine hole course.One can play golf after paying charges
here.
Sadar Bazar: Sadar Bazar is the main shopping area of Ranikhet where most
of hotels are located , one can compare Sadar bazar as Mall road of Ranikhet ,
because actual mall road of Ranikhet does not have shops and hotels ( Approach
road towards Chaubatia is known as Mall road).
